Montfort Youth Centre - The Beginning
The building of the former Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus Primary School in Ayer Salak, Melaka was vacated and this village school building was made available to the Brothers of St. Gabriel to extend its services to poor and underprivileged youths. The Brothers of St. Gabriel took the offer of the facilities and two young Brothers arrived in May 2000 to begin establishing the project. The pioneer Brothers are Bro. Robin D sg. and Bro. Peter K sg. The Brothers of St. Gabriel have been running Montfort Boys’ Town located in Shah Alam, Selangor since 1959. It has since established Montfort Youth Training Centre in Sabah in 1999 and Montfort Youth Centre in Melaka.
In August 2001
Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) Course
Montfort Youth Centre started the Motor Vehicle Mechanics course with 14 youths.
In 2005
More Courses Are Available
Computer Systems Technician course was added and the General Maintenance course in 2012.
In 2022

The Agriculture course started with 3 students, and now we have about 6 students

After years of planning, the Culinary Arts course started in March, followed by the Graphic Design and Digital Printing Course in July. Additionally, after 23 years, MYC has opened its doors to female students

We provide residential care for some 100 youths at the Centre for the 2 years training period.
